It was Ok

This was an OK read. I can’t say I loved the story,It had all the right elements; the plot was there, just the story itself left a lot to be desired for me. Dominic was kind of an A-hole. The way he treated Anna was just wrong. He would just leave her, talk down to her and put her out and run to Victoria at the drop of a hat all while claiming he wanted to be with her?that was so messed up. Victoria was no better, always crying and saying how she didn’t want to interfere with his relationship but that is just what she did. For example she did not always have to be a round his family. She could have said no, not going to dinner with your family, take your girlfriend. I just didn’t understand why they just couldn’t say they loved each other or that they wanted to be together. If they had, a lot of things could have been avoided. It took the whole book for them to finally say how they felt about each other. The one thing I did love was the secondary characters. Dominic family was so funny, I would laugh out loud! I wanted to love this book, I have read book similar in story line but this one, I can’t say I loved.

This was a really good book and I would have given 5 stars but, it had a lot, a lot of typos and it took away from the reading. It had a good plot, good story, great characters but, the typos. I had to reread a lot to get the meaning from misplaced words or the wrong spelling of words. Could have been a great read.

Great Story - I loved it!

This author is not new to me and although I have her Defined and Delusional Love 2 book series, I have yet to read them. So I decided I would read this book now.

The story is about Dominic and Victoria and their journey to love. Their story was complicated and messy in places but the way the author navigates you through all the twists, turns and sets backs in the relationship was exquisite!

Reading this story for me was like eating one of my favourite meals or drinking some very smooth coffee with cream that gives you that wonderful feeling of enjoyment when you have a great meal. I thought the story flowed and it had me totally engrossed. I could not stop reading until I had finished the book.

The story has humour, betrayal, deception, friendship, love, murder, hatred. There are barriers and hurdles presented to the couple that they have to work through in order to achieve their happy ending.

What I appreciated about the story the most was that even with all the drama, confusion, complexities of what was going in their relationship, Dominic even when he was angry with Victoria, was always loving, thoughtful, protective of Victoria. He would not have anyone say a bad word about Victoria not even family members. Even with all their issues they remained caring about each other. I loved that so much about how the author told this story, to me that is true love.

The only villain in the story for me was Anna! Lord I wanted to give her the beat down of her life. However, she gets hers!
There were a couple of editing issues but this did not prevent me from thoroughly enjoying the story!

This to me, was a beautiful, tender love story which I enjoyed reading every single word of! I had that satisfied feeling after reading this love story. Loved it!

I cannot wait for Monica and Marco's story. I would highly recommend this story.

An Essential Guide for Navigating Global Business Relationships

To succeed in today's highly complex global business environment requires much more than meets the eye. Yes, it helps to know the local language or whether to kiss, bow, or shake hands. It's the part that most business people overlook -- that invisible part that sinks ships and sinks relationships.

Dr. Livermore not only is academically grounded but personally experienced in the science and art of choreographing and improvising crosscultural relationships. He has done consulting and training with leaders in 75 countries across the Americas, Africa, Asia, Australia, and Europe and his book is chock full of stories from those experiences as he uses them -- with candor and humor -- to add color commentary to the four-dimensional cultural intelligence(CQ)model he presents.

Any organizational or functional leader, manager, or entrepreneur thinking about or already doing business globally needs to pack this book along with their Ambien, Berlitz phrase book, and PDA.

Do you want to be a better global leader?

I stumbled on a reference to this book while reading a newspaper article on cultural blunders reported by small companies looking to do business abroad. Having spent my youth in Western Europe and then much of the last 25 years in companies doing business abroad in all major world markets, I've had to jump across cultures all my life so the topic was particularly interesting to me. But I had never come across any book or publication that would provide a comprehensive framework on the topic.

Overall, I feel this is a must-read for anybody looking to improve his or her cross-cultural competence. The book is based on the theory of Cultural Intelligence (CQ) and translates the theory into a practical four-step process to help us develop our CQ skills and improve our cross-cultural leadership techniques. The other theme that runs through the book is the positive relationship that exists between the acquisition of CQ and leaders' effectiveness.

I found the chapter devoted to the five scales used to measure core cultural values among nations particularly useful. But, as others have commented, I also found some of the advice offered rather obvious (go to the movies, eat out, learn a new language, etc.). The writing can be wordy at times and some editing for conciseness would help.

Also I wish examples cited in the book had gone beyond the personal experience of the author and explored recent business transactions or product launches where national and organizational cultures were important considerations (e.g., the merger of Daimler-Benz and Chrysler, or the localizing of a consumer internet product from its initial base in the US to other countries).

The book isn't perfect. But there doesn't seem to be much else available and you should definitely read it if you are serious about improving your cross-cultural skills.

It puts all intercultural competance together to another level!

I have asked myself: Why do I really appreciate this book and also the other books from David Livermore? I have studied Intercultural communication and lived in different countries for many years and I regard myself as one with good knowledge about different cultures and with lot of experiences. I don’t lack books about intercultural communication, but the CQ concept and the way this is explained puts all together and give meaning to a lot of perspectives I didn’t really understand before. I can’t just relay on my knowledge and experiences and think that’s fine. We need all the 4 categories presented in this book about Cultural Intelligence by David Livermore. There are many stories in the book that illustrate these categories and that make the CQ theory very practical. It goes from business negotiation in worldwide companies to eating out with a friend. Because our relationships with people influence the way we behave in other situations. Business is more than important meetings; you can easily spoil a contract by showing negative feelings for the food during lunch. This puts all together for me, knowledge, motivation, self-awareness (strategy) and behaviour. I really also like the way the book incorporate research done on intercultural communication and adapt that to CQ ; ex the Hofstede research and the GLOBE project. CQ itself is also researched based. That is why I really have confidence to this concept. In fact, this has changed the way I look at the world around me. Should you ever read a book about how to adapt to intercultural situations, this is the book. It is easy to read, but hard work to adapt, there are enough challenges even though the book present the subject in non-academic terms.

One of the Best Thriller Series I've Read in Years. Cannot Wait for the Next Installment.

This entire thrilling series features masterful storytelling and terrific characters. Every character is well rounded and multidimensional and I especially love the way Jill and David interact with and support each another. Their friendship with their coworkers in the hospital (and police department) seem genuine and one can easily understand their close relationship.

In this book, Jill Raney and David Levine continue to assist the local police in cases involving sex crimes during their (respective) OBGYN internship and residency at Madison Hospital. Jill remains a better detective than the entire rest of the police department and one wonders how the cops are able to solve any cases without her assistance.

Their latest case involves “The Couples Killer” who, as the name suggests, primarily targets people in a relationship. Jill and David realize that the killer began his crime spree with one target in mind and grew addicted to murder and the attention that it brought him. Indeed one of the focuses of the book is the narcissistic need for killers to bask in the spotlight, to the extent that they are irrationally jealous of anyone who takes attention away from them. (I’m very much in tune with this sentiment and I’ve often felt that the media’s circus-like coverage of “sensational” crimes spurs further crimes to be committed).

Jill and David’s adopted son Jesse is now almost one year old and is remarkably advanced for his age. The hospital plans to show him off for publicity purposes and to gain additional research money to develop artificial wombs. This focuses attention on Jill and David and they quickly become targets of the killer. In a dramatic showdown, they must contend with a killer of unknown appearance who is also a master of disguise.

NOTE: If you haven't read the first three books, do yourself a favor and start with book one. Although the 4th book can stand alone, you'll appreciate it more if you've read the series from the beginning.

Another wonderful read in this series

Embryo 4: Catch Me is probably my favorite out of the four books in the series I have read so far.
David and Jill have adopted the embryo baby - Jesse and it's almost his first birthday. The hospital is planning a special conference to have the doctors who reacted with Jesse while he was still in his artificial womb explain all the ways he responded. And those who met Jesse shortly after he was born will get to see him again.
David and Jill are very protective of him. David wants the public to know that he is just like any other kid and Jill is once again worried by all the publicity. In the previous three novels, Jesse's birth and IVF was a very controversial topic and there were a lot of protests.
Meanwhile another killer is on the move; this time targeting couples. David and Jill are helping the police again, having established a great policy of preserving everything from the victims that come to their hospital. One victim in particular, Beth, a veteran who had been pregnant, survives after losing her baby and actually becomes a friend of David and Jill's and the other OB-GYN docs.
Both Jill and David prove once again their detective sleuthing skills with insight. Jill is as wary as before but stronger and more determined to protect her family.
David and Jill's teamwork/family determination works becomes even more solid with each progressive novel.
Jesse at a year old is cute as ever, funny and even helps in his own way to help bring down the couples killer.
A very satisfying read. Once again I am disciplining myself to not jump into book 5 in the series just yet so that I can savor the enjoyment of the series. I am looking forward to reading other J.A Schneider's work as she creates what I consider to be "delicious" fiction. She is a master story teller.

Another brilliant addition to the Embryo series!

The terrified toddler ran whimpering through the bushes in Central Park, covered in blood, hysterical – the two police on horseback who spotted him were shocked; but even more so when they discovered what he was running from. The Couples Killer had struck again, but one of the victims was still alive and was transported immediately to Madison Memorial Hospital in the company of her distraught little boy.

Doctors Jill Raney and David Levine were busy with the usual rush of delivering babies, coping with the emergencies which always seemed to occur in the night time hours with premature births – all normal for Madison Memorial; but they were horrified and definitely unprepared for the condition of the latest victim of New York’s Couples Killer…

Jesse, Jill and David’s adopted son and the darling “miracle baby” of the media was almost one year old; he was showing signs of extreme intelligence, mimicking the adults constantly with new words and melting the hearts of those around him. With him in the hospital’s child care centre, along with other staff’s children, Jill and David would pop in to see him whenever they had a spare few minutes. But with the Couples Killer on the loose, they decided to sleep at the hospital as well…

As the fevered activity of the killer accelerated, the bodies mounted and the danger came closer. David and Jill were helping the police with the collection of forensic evidence from victims – but this killer was clever. The only thing found at the scenes was a taunting note saying CATCH ME – and it seemed at the moment, they couldn’t. Would the frustrated police catch this psychotic killer before more bodies were found? Would the killer make his biggest hit of all?

This is another brilliant thriller in the Embryo series from author J.A. Schneider. I love the characters of Jill and David, the intensity of each plot, the pace and speed of the action – the continual building of the stories from the very first book through to this one; and the incredible twists and turns throughout. A highly recommended series, but one I feel that must be read from the beginning for the building of the full cast of characters to be a benefit to the reader. One of the best thriller series I have read in my opinion.

e4 (As Documented Here) Still Not Ready for Prime Time

We were getting set to start a new application, and decided to try Eclipse 4 - but gave up after two weeks of struggling with this book (and the one by Dr. Alex Blewitt) (I agree with a previous reviewer that most of the material is available on the author's web site for free - we discovered that when googling to try and find help with things that didn't work). There are lots of instances of required settings being buried, or in a subsequent chapter - so it was a struggle to get the examples to work, never mind build your own application of any complexity. We ended up dropping back to the previous model of application building. I don't doubt that part of the problem is the complexity of Eclipse in general, and getting the first book out on any new technology is going to be tough - but I hardly consider this "the" complete guide to Eclipse 4 RCP. I'm sure when the dust settles and a subsequent revision comes out, things will be better.

eclipse is the frustrating part, this book does the best it can i suppose

so many of the tutorials and examples don't work, either because the author forgot to mention a setting, had set up his development environment prior to writing the book (and set things then) or because the newest version of eclipse has moved or renamed things. also, as with many eclipse people, the author says "if you see blah blah you need to set your fizbit settings to XYZ". unfortunately i don't know where the "fizbit" has been buried in eclipse, i'm trying to learn here.... and i have to spend hours, sometimes days, researching how to get the settings right to make the tutorials work. Like I said in the title, however, I attribute this to the eclipse community more than the author of this book.

An excellent, effective and enlightening 'production and operations management' textbook.

This is an excellent textbook related to production and operations management. I have come to like it because of its highly effective usefulness, better presentation and very easy to understand design, type setting and description.

I have chosen this rating because I consider this textbook as one of the best in the market today. The main reason why I have decided to choose this very high rating for this textbook is that being a business and management professor at an American State University for the last four-and-a-half years, I have myself taught it in my 'BSAD0455 Production and Operations Management' class for several semesters. I have no hesitation or deliberation to state that this textbook is one of the most informative, reliable and best of its kind publications that I have come across so far in my academic career.

Being a mechanical engineer by trade, I have found this textbook as a useful addition for the industry practitioners like me because of its vast effectiveness from the industry perspective. I will strongly recommend this textbook equally to all of my friends, academics, experts, professors and practitioners as well as to my own State University faculty and staff members, students as well as the library resource centers.

Much of the book yields more puzzlement than enlightenment: the authors offer unfocused personal anecdotes, and various contradictory statements create further confusion (e.g., an assertion that the method always works is followed by the qualifying If it works, then you have a friend for life in KM). He founded and directs the Asian Classics Institute, the Asian Classics Input Project and Diamond Mountain University in Arizona. LAMA CHRISTIE McNALLY is the cofounder of the Yoga Studies Institute and Diamond Mountain University, Arizona, author of The Tibetan Book of Meditation and the coauthor of The Essential Yoga Sutra, How Yoga Works and The Eastern Path to Heaven. Read this book in an hour and have been using it ever since!

I read this book in an hour, and followed all the directions laid out in the book. I re-read the book again, and have continued to follow the advices. My business and financial situation have improved immensely, not to mention so have my personal relationships just by using the principles and examples laid out in this book. I am in the process of reading the author's other book the Diamond Cutter. I loved this book and now give it as gifts to my other entrepreneur or friends looking to change their life. I feel that these books should be read and then re-read, so much wisdom in here!
